For Industrial jobs, the skills and experience you need really depends on the specific role. Employers may ask for  previous experience in a similar role, and for more senior roles, then we may look for supervision and leadership experience.

For some positions, we do consider entry-level candidates who are willing to learn. An enthusiastic attitude, being reliable and a great team player goes a long way!

Because of the physical nature of some industrial work, a good level of fitness may be required.

The qualifications you need for work in the industrial sector again depends on the role. Generally speaking, tertiary qualifications aren’t a requirement, but some roles do need certifications or licenses.

Here are examples of  the kinds of certifications that our clients may ask for:

• Trade qualifications- Building, plumbing, electrical
• Forklift and hoist licenses
• Driving licenses – full class 1, Class 2
• MPI Welding tickets

An awareness and knowledge of good Health and Safety practices is always viewed positively.

The nature of much of the work done in the industrial sector does mean that unfortunately, there is not a lot of flexible work in the form of remote / work from home options. We do see some part-time hours jobs, and occasionally a little bit of flexibility about start and finish times.  Overall, flexible work arrangements are fairly uncommon, in comparison to other industries.
