Building Compliance Officer

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced building specialist working within a large government organisation and be part to support the building and consents team. Based in Albany, this position will allow you build on your current experience and develop your skills to support leaders and the wider team.

  • 40 hours per week, standard business hours
  • $32ph + 8% holiday pay
  • ASAP – 6 months (potential to extend)
  • Albany location 

The role:

This role will be a mixture of office and field-based (visiting sites) which will require some proactivity and reliability. Day-to-day responsibilities will involve; 

  • Providing excellent customer service 
  • Undertake investigations on complex Resource Management and building Act breaches
  • Liaising with property owners 
  • Able to deal with aggrieved complainants who are sometimes difficult.
  • Liaise with building and resource consent teams where consents may be required. 
  • Report writing 
  • Providing administration support

About you:

This position requires you to be organised, proactive and self-motivated. Previous customer service experience is preferred, the below attributes are essential:

  • Adaptable and flexible to the needs of the wider team
  • Highly accurate with a strong attention to detail
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Suite
  • Full drivers license 
  • Ideal knowledge in compliance and Building Act/RMA but not essential
