Senior Associate QS

Our Client

A well‑established, multi‑disciplinary property and building consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Associate Quantity Surveyor as part of a planned growth hire in Auckland.
This role suits a senior QS who wants real accountability, visibility in the market, and the chance to play a key role in growing a successful QS portfolio, without stepping into formal business ownership or P&L responsibility.

New Zealand market experience is essential for this role.

The role

This is a senior, client‑facing position with responsibility across both delivery and growth.

You will lead complex QS engagements, manage key client relationships, and be accountable for the performance and ongoing development of a defined portfolio. You will be trusted to operate with autonomy, supported by an established national consultancy with strong systems and depth behind you.

This is not a backfill role. It is a growth appointment for someone who wants to step into a senior seat and be measured on outcomes.

What you will be responsible for

  • Delivering high‑level quantity surveying services across complex projects
  • Leading cost planning, procurement, contract administration and commercial risk
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for clients and providing clear, confident advice
  • Being accountable for the performance and growth of key client relationships
  • Contributing to work‑winning activity through existing relationships and market presence
  • Leading and mentoring QS team members and maintaining delivery standards
  • Supporting the ongoing development of the QS service line
  • Managing fees, reporting and utilisation across your projects

About you

  • 7+ years’ experience in quantity surveying within the New Zealand construction market
  • Strong understanding of NZ procurement methods, contracts, consultants and client expectations
  • Proven technical capability across pre‑ and post‑contract services
  • Comfortable managing senior client relationships and operating with accountability
  • A track record of contributing to repeat work or portfolio growth
  • Confident leading projects and supporting the development of others
  • Relevant construction qualification
  • RICS and/or NZIQS membership, or working toward it

Why consider this opportunity?

  • Senior role with clear accountability and influence
  • Genuine growth position within an established consultancy
  • Opportunity to leverage your NZ market relationships while being supported by a strong platform
  • Varied, technically interesting work rather than production QS output
  • Clear progression as the business continues to grow
