Madison Recruitment are recruiting exclusively on behalf of a market-leading NZX-listed organisation for a commercially focused Finance Manager to lead the finance function of one of its key operating subsidiaries.
Based in Auckland CBD working with a wonderful team, this role provides an excellent opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end finance in a business-critical unit while contributing to broader group performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role encompassing monthly and statutory reporting, budgeting, audit oversight, and commercial advisory.
You’ll work closely with senior management reporting to the Group CFO to improve business outcomes while leading a capable and engaged accounting team of three people.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial reporting, including contributions to Board reporting
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting cycles, ensuring alignment with group strategy
- Manage year-end statutory reporting and act as the key liaison with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with tax and regulatory obligations in accordance with NZ IFRS
- Provide high-quality commercial advice and financial insight to operational leaders
- Prepare and manage cashflow forecasts and oversee banking operations and internal controls
- Drive ongoing process improvement, particularly around systems and reporting efficiency
- Support strategic and ad hoc projects as required by the CFO and divisional leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team to support high performance and collaboration
About You:
You’ll have solid accounting experience, a good head for numbers, and a practical, team-focused approach.
You’re comfortable working in a fast-paced business with lots of transactions and you are confident giving clear financial advice to senior managers to help guide decisions.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- A CA qualification and tertiary degree in accounting or finance
- At least 6 years’ experience in a senior finance role, ideally in a large, complex business
- Proven experience managing audits, statutory compliance, and Board-level reporting
- Experience leading and developing finance teams
- Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. Navision or similar)
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive, improvement-oriented mindset with high attention to detail
