Accounts Assistant

Madison is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join a high-performing finance team based in Takapuna. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and growing organisation with a strong presence in the retail and hospitality sectors.
 
You’ll be working from a modern, open-plan office with beautiful views of Takapuna Beach and an on-site café, all while being part of a supportive and collaborative finance function.
 
Duration: 3 month temporary position 
Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, flexible start and finish times
Location: Takapuna
 
About the Role:
This role sits within the Retail Finance team and supports the financial operations of a well-known retail brand. Working closely with the Management Accountant, you’ll be involved in a broad range of accounting tasks – including reconciliations, credit note processing, and fixed asset management. It’s a varied role that requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work proactively.
 
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Administration

  • Process credit notes and understand their impact on inventory and fixed assets
  • Investigate and resolve supplier invoice discrepancies, purchase order issues and serial number conflicts
  • Support period-end processes, including preparation of journals and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assist with clearing reconciling items

Fixed Assets

  • Process additions, retirements, transfers and depreciation
  • Perform fixed asset reconciliations
  • Support both internal and external audits related to fixed assets
  • Reconcile data across front-end systems and NetSuite

Other Duties

  • Provide assistance across the wider finance team as required
  • Take ownership of ad hoc tasks and responsibilities as they arise


About You:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and reliable accounting professional with previous experience in a similar role. You’ll be confident working both independently and as part of a team, and you’ll bring a proactive attitude to your work.

You’ll also ideally have:

  • Sound understanding of accounting principles and processes
  • High volume processing experience is a must 
  • Strong reconciliation skills and attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of accounting systems (experience with NetSuite a plus)
  • The ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
