Digital Web Content Writer

About the Role

You’ll be responsible for finishing a project that has already been started – writing, editing, and refining content across more than 100 research-related web pages. Your work will help shape how research capability, people, and impact are presented to key audiences such as industry partners, media, collaborators, and prospective postgraduate students.

You’ll collaborate closely with digital, marketing, and research stakeholders to ensure the content is accurate, aligned to the new site structure, and optimised for both search and accessibility.

This role is firmly centred on content creation and updates, rather than technical platform management.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Creating and publishing high‑quality, engaging web content for core research pages
  • Reviewing and rewriting existing content to improve clarity, consistency, and tone
  • Applying SEO, accessibility, and AI‑discoverability principles
  • Structuring content to align with newly developed user journeys and information architecture
  • Working closely with project leads and subject matter experts to ensure accuracy
  • Supporting broader digital marketing objectives through quality content delivery

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as a web content writer, copywriter, or similar
  • A strong writing portfolio, ideally including web pages or long‑form digital content
  • Solid understanding of SEO fundamentals and experience with analytics tools (GA4, SEMrush, Lucky Orange, etc.)
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and formatting skills
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear, engaging, user‑friendly way
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience using content management systems (AEM experience a bonus)
  • Understanding of accessibility principles for web content
  • Confidence working with diverse stakeholders and subject matter experts

Why You’ll Love This Role

  • Work on a high‑profile, high‑impact digital transformation project
  • Help shape a new online experience for research audiences
  • Work in a highly collaborative environment
  • A structured project with clear scope, milestones, and support

If you’re a skilled content writer who enjoys meaningful project work and wants to help finish build something significant, we’d love to hear from you. Any questions please email sarah.harland@madison.co.nz but if you are applying, please use this platform to do so.
