An established international contractor is seeking a Project Manager to join a long-term, high-profile construction project based in Tonga.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a major build in an international setting, working alongside an experienced delivery team while acting as the key interface between client, stakeholders, and site operations.
The Opportunity
This role will see you take a central position in the delivery of a project running through to early 2028. Reporting to the Project Director, you will be responsible for project coordination, stakeholder management, and overall programme performance on the ground, supported by established site and delivery teams. You will operate as the key point of contact across the project, ensuring alignment between stakeholders and driving outcomes through the delivery team.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary day-to-day interface between client, consultants, and project team
- Drive coordination across site teams and subcontractors to ensure programme alignment
- Manage programme performance, including look-ahead planning and identifying risks or delays
- Lead and contribute to project reporting across programme, cost, and key risks
- Support commercial management, including variation awareness, cost tracking, and contractor performance
- Facilitate clear communication across stakeholders to maintain alignment and delivery outcomes
- Assist in resolving site challenges, logistics issues, and sequencing in a remote project environment
- Promote safe, structured, and professional delivery standards
About You This role suits a Project Manager or strong emerging PM who is confident operating across both client and delivery environments.
You are likely to bring:
- Experience within a main contractor or construction delivery environment
- Proven experience operating in a Project Manager or coordination-led role
- Exposure to client and stakeholder management, including meetings and reporting
- Strong understanding of programme tracking and construction delivery processes
- Commercial awareness across cost, variations, and contractor performance
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with the ability to operate independently
- Willingness to relocate and work in a remote, international project environment
Eligibility Requirement (Important)
- Applicants must hold valid New Zealand working rights
- Visa sponsorship is not provided for New Zealand employment
- Successful candidates will be sponsored for a Tonga work visa only as part of the project assignment
