Madison Recruitment is partnering with a large, asset-intensive infrastructure organisation undertaking a significant transformation of its capital investment oversight function. This newly created contract opportunity offers the chance to build and lead a Project Accounting team while influencing financial performance across a substantial capital programme portfolio.

This is a senior leadership position within Finance, designed to establish best-practice project accounting, forecasting, financial controls, governance reporting, and assurance frameworks across major infrastructure projects.

About the Role:

As Project Accounting Lead, you will establish and lead a newly formed Project Accounting function, providing senior financial leadership and commercial challenge across a complex capital delivery environment. You will partner closely with programme and project leaders, ensuring robust forecasting, cost control, governance reporting, financial assurance, and decision support.

You will play a key role in designing and embedding financial processes, controls, and reporting practices while supporting the implementation of new programme management systems and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and lead the Project Accounting function, operating model, controls, and standards.
• Manage and develop a team of Project Accountants.
• Provide senior financial leadership and business partnering to programme and project stakeholders.
• Lead forecasting, cost assurance, cashflow management, and capital accounting activities.
• Deliver financial governance, portfolio reporting, and commercial insights.
• Provide assurance around financial risk, contingency utilisation, and change management.
• Support the implementation and optimisation of project and portfolio management systems.
• Drive continuous improvement across financial processes, reporting, and controls. 

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• CA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant experience in project accounting, infrastructure finance, programme controls, or large-scale capital delivery environments.
• Proven success establishing, leading, or improving finance or project accounting functions.
• Deep expertise in forecasting, cost management, financial controls, capital accounting, risk management, and governance reporting.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability across senior leadership groups.
• Experience within infrastructure, utilities, construction, engineering, or other asset-intensive sectors.
• Exposure to systems such as Oracle Primavera Cloud, Aconex Cost, Infor/LN, or similar enterprise platforms will be highly regarded.
