Madison Recruitment is partnering with a well-established New Zealand retail and distribution business seeking an experienced Financial Accountant for an immediate contract assignment of approximately 2-3 months.
This is a hands-on role supporting the CFO across financial reporting, compliance, cash management, forecasting, and business performance analysis. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned contractor who can quickly add value, work autonomously, and hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Month-end and year-end reporting
- Balance sheet, bank, stock and sales reconciliations
- GST, FBT and other tax compliance obligations
- Cashflow forecasting and treasury support
- Financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting
- Payroll reporting and support
- Management of third-party finance providers and key stakeholders
- Process improvement and finance systems enhancements
- Supporting business performance reporting and decision making
About You:
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Proven Financial Accountant experience in a medium to large organisation
- Strong month-end, reporting and compliance expertise
- Excellent Excel skills and exposure to BI reporting tools
- Solid understanding of New Zealand tax and accounting standards
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to engage across all levels of the business
- Contractor mindset with the ability to start immediately or at short notice
