Due to continued growth and a focus on finance transformation, KidsCan is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join its Albany-based finance team.

This role has been created to provide greater support across the finance function and offers an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to broaden their technical capability and gain exposure to a wider range of accounting responsibilities.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Finance and working closely with experienced members of the finance team, you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations while contributing to month-end processes, compliance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Daily bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Accounts payable processing and supplier management
  • Accounts receivable and credit control
  • Weekly payment runs and expense reimbursements
  • Supplier statement reconciliations and query resolution
  • Customer invoicing and management of outstanding balances
  • Month-end journals, reconciliations and accruals
  • GST return preparation and reconciliations
  • Supporting annual financial statement preparation and audits
  • Fixed asset register maintenance
  • Monitoring automated finance processes and ensuring accuracy
  • Contributing to process improvement and finance automation initiatives

About You:

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Around 3+ years’ accounting experience
  • Strong exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations
  • Some experience assisting with month-end processes and GST
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline
  • Knowledge of New Zealand GST requirements
  • Experience using ERP systems, with NetSuite advantageous
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills
