Our client is a privately held UK company, specialising in the publication of open access peer-reviewed journals across the broad spectrum of science, technology and especially medicine. Combining the highest editorial standards with the ‘best of breed’ new publishing technologies, their editorial offices are based in Auckland on the North Shore.

We are looking for someone with a master’s or bachelors ideally in health/science/medicine who has an interest in the Medical or Science field to join their Revised Manuscripts Team – this role is a permanent position – full time, Monday to Friday with flexible working arrangements.  
 

Position summary:    

This person will receive author revised manuscripts as submitted. Verify completeness and quality of submission. Liaise with the QC team to check for plagiarism in the submitted revised manuscripts. Once submitted revised manuscripts pass their in-house checks, liaise with each journal’s Editor-in-Chief / Associate Editor, and ensure that the author receives prompt notification of the Editor’s decision. The Revised Manuscripts Coordinator will liaise with the author to ensure the timely delivery of the revised manuscript and supply of that revised manuscript to the Editor. The Editor will make a final decision as to whether the manuscript can be published. That decision, whether accepted or rejected for publication is communicated to the author by the Revised Manuscripts Coordinator. Accepted manuscripts are then passed to the invoicing group in-house

Main deliverables:

  • Prompt in-house checking of submitted manuscripts
  • Clear notes made within their “Content Reactor” to indicate any special issues arising
  • Professional and formal communications with authors, internal and external stakeholders at all times
  • Next Action Dates are set in accordance with departmental standards & those next action dates are met

To be successful in this role, you:

  • Uphold professional standards, keeping sensitive information in confidence
  • Excellent computer & typing skills – the software is bespoke so nothing specific is required other than MS office suite; and Will be able to read, go-between, comprehend, and make decisions in a timely manner on subject matter which can vary enormously, so someone who is able to multi-task would be best suited to this role
  • You must hold valid working rights here in NZ
  • You withhold a bachelors degree ideally in health/science/medicine or something relatable
