Finance Manager
$150000 - $175000 per annum

Our client who are a very well-respected name and clear leader in their sector have created the role of Finance Manager to manage the New Zealand finance function.

This is a client I know well and naturally they are working exclusively with Madison Recruitment for this search. 

Based in a vibrant central suburb area of Auckland with easy access both by car and public transport, this is a key leadership role that combines strategic oversight with hands-on financial management.

You’ll be working closely with a range of people in the group, from regional managers to support teams, to help drive performance and support growth.

What’s this role all about?

It’s about bringing financial clarity, confidence, and leadership. You’ll be leading a team of six people who are spread cross a number of sites in the North Island and reporting into the CFO for the APAC region.

The role ensures that everything from financial reporting to budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow is running like a well-oiled machine — all while finding smarter ways to do things and supporting new business opportunities.

Some of your day-to-day will include:

  • Leading the month-end reporting process and making sure everything is accurate and on time
  • Coordinating annual budgets and rolling forecasts, making sure they’re aligned and realistic
  • Keeping a close eye on cashflow and ensuring we’re well-positioned for both day-to-day operations and future growth
  • Working with external auditors and tax advisors to make sure we’re on top of our compliance obligations
  • Supporting new site openings and other exciting growth initiatives
  • Driving improvements and finding ways to streamline our finance systems and processes
  • Mentoring and developing your team — helping them grow their skills and hit their goals

You enjoy rolling up your sleeves and getting into the detail, but you’re also great at stepping back and seeing the bigger picture.

You’re comfortable in a fast-moving environment and you’re not afraid to challenge the status quo if there’s a better way to do something.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • You’re a fully qualified accountant (CA, CPA, or equivalent). This is essential. 
  • You’ve got 10+ years’ experience in finance, including roles in multi-site or complex business environments
  • You’re across all things accounting, tax, and audit — and you’re confident leading these processes
  • You’ve successfully led teams, implemented change, and driven efficiency improvements
  • You’re analytical, detail-oriented, and confident using BI tools, accounting software and MS Excel
  • You’re a clear communicator who can build rapport at all levels — from boardroom to back office
