Are you a finance professional who enjoys solving problems, providing trusted advice, and making a real impact? We have an exciting opportunity for a Financial Advisor to join a respected public sector organisation supporting New Zealanders through the delivery of essential financial services and programmes.
This is a varied and rewarding 12-month contract where you’ll combine financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and advisory expertise to support informed decision-making and positive community outcomes. About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Financial Advisor, you’ll provide financial advice, monitoring, analysis, and reporting to support sound decision-making across the organisation. You’ll play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, supporting planning and budgeting processes, and delivering accurate financial information to internal stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing financial advice and decision support to managers and stakeholders.
- Monitoring, analysing, and forecasting financial performance.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and business planning activities.
- Preparing monthly and year-end financial reporting.
- Investigating and resolving financial issues, anomalies, and audit queries.
- Providing financial advice and support relating to entitlements, funding, and reimbursement matters.
- Managing financial data and ensuring strong financial controls are maintained.
- Supporting audit requirements and organisational reporting obligations.
- Building strong working relationships across the wider business and finance teams.
About You
We’re seeking a finance professional with at least three years’ experience in a finance, management accounting, financial analyst, or advisory role. You’ll be analytical, detail-oriented, and able to translate financial information into practical insights for stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
- 3+ years’ experience in a finance, management accounting, or financial advisory role.
- Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analytical skills.
- Experience investigating and resolving financial issues.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel capability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A proactive approach and strong problem-solving ability.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar would be advantageous.
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
