About the Role
This is a true hunter role for a commercially driven Business Development Manager who thrives on winning new business. With a strong focus on Full Container Load (FCL) ocean freight, you’ll take ownership of growing a New Zealand portfolio – identifying opportunities, building relationships with importers, and converting new business across key Asia-NZ trade lanes. 

You’ll manage the full sales cycle end-to-end, supported by an experienced operations, pricing, and customer service team to ensure seamless delivery and strong client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and grow B2B client relationships for China-NZ trade
  • Build and grow strong partnerships with importers, suppliers, and key industry contacts
  • Lead prospecting and cold-calling efforts to identify new opportunities and develop a strong sales pipeline
  • Prepare tailored proposals and freight solutions aligned to client needs
  • Collaborate with operations to ensure smooth freight, customs clearance, and delivery
  • Drive revenue growth and consistently achieve sales targets

About You

  • 5+ years experience in freight forwarding or logistics sales (ideally with FCL exposure)
  • Strong hunter mentality – confident with cold calling and generating new business
  • Solid understanding of international freight processes, particularly sea freight
  • Commercially savvy, with the ability to identify and close opportunities
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and comfortable working autonomously
  • Existing industry network or client base is highly regarded
