Senior Planner

Auckland Airport is delivering a major long-term expansion programme, with multiple concurrent projects shaping the future of New Zealand’s busiest transport hub.
 
This role sits within the Programme Management Office (PMO), supporting the Domestic Processing Buildings portfolio a critical programme of terminal and operational facility upgrades delivered within a live environment.
 This is the final appointment into a high-performing planning team, joining a fully mobilised programme at a key stage of delivery.
 
The Opportunity
 
Embedded within the DP Buildings delivery team, you will develop and maintain integrated master schedules across a portfolio of complex vertical construction projects.
This is a high-visibility role where programme accuracy, interface management and forward planning directly influence delivery outcomes. You will work across Project Directors, Project Managers, contractors and consultants to align sequencing, dependencies and key milestones.
You will identify programme risks early, assess impacts and provide clear, actionable insight to support decision-making at both project and programme level.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrated project and programme schedules
  • Lead planning coordination across internal teams, contractors and consultants
  • Own schedule integrity in Primavera P6, aligned to PMO standards and WBS structures
  • Manage critical paths, key interfaces and dependencies
  • Undertake schedule and risk analysis, providing early warnings and mitigation strategies
  • Deliver reporting, variance analysis and forward programme insights
  • Advise on sequencing and planning strategies to optimise delivery
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across planning systems and processes

 
About You
You’re an experienced planner who operates confidently in complex, multi-stakeholder environments, bringing both technical strength and commercial awareness.
You’re comfortable influencing senior stakeholders, challenging assumptions and providing clear, evidence-based advice.
 
You will ideally offer:

  • 7+ years’ experience in project planning / scheduling within construction or infrastructure
  • Experience across vertical construction projects (airports, commercial, health or complex builds)
  • Advanced capability with Primavera P6 (MS Project beneficial)
  • Experience with schedule risk tools (Primavera Risk, Safran, ARM or similar)
  • Strong analytical and reporting capability
  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or similar
