Community Compliance Warden

As a Community Compliance Warden, you’ll play a visible, frontline role in improving safety, wellbeing, and public confidence across central Auckland. Working in one of the city’s busiest and most diverse environments, you’ll be part of a coordinated approach that prioritises prevention, early intervention, and positive engagement.

This is a role for people who care about communities, enjoy working with the public, and can remain calm, fair, and respectful in challenging situations.
In this front facing role, you’ll engage with businesses and residents, delivering excellent customer service by addressing concerns and resolving conflict in a calm, professional manner. Your focus will be on promoting positive interactions, mutual understanding, and a supportive environment across Tāmaki Makaurau.

Key Details

  • ASAP start – candidates must be available immediately
  • Temporary assignment until September 2026
  • $30 per hour + 8% holiday pay
  • Based in Auckland CBD

Hours & Roster

  • Fortnightly rotating roster
  • Must be flexible as weekend and public holiday work is required
  • Rostered 6 days one week and 4 days the next between the hours of 7am and 10pm with shifts ranging from 8 to 10 hours per day
  • 80 hours per fortnight with opportunities for overtime available

What you’ll be doing

  • Foot patrols across the CBD
  • Engage with the public and promote safe, appropriate behaviour
  • De‑escalate tense situations and respond to safety concerns
  • Provide directions, support, and reassurance
  • Record and report incidents accurately
  • Refer vulnerable individuals to support services

About You
This is a highly visible, public facing role. You will be confident engaging with a diverse range of people and experienced in managing challenging situations

  • A positive attitude and genuine people focused approach
  • Strong communication skills, confident writing daily reports
  • Solid customer service experience
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Experience managing and de-escalating conflict

Requirements:

  • Full NZ driver licence
  • Ability to walk/stand for long periods
  • Shift work, including evenings/weekends
  • Police vetting and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
