Full-Time | Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a diverse food forest, market garden, and regenerative farming environment while gaining valuable experience across horticulture, nursery operations, land management, and property maintenance.

About the Client
Our client operates a unique self-sustaining farm and food forest focused on regenerative growing practices, sustainable land management, and organic production systems. Located in South Wairarapa, the property combines large-scale food forest development, market gardening, and nursery operations in a truly distinctive rural setting.
As operations continue to grow, including the development of a new nursery, they are looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and is keen to contribute to a thriving and evolving property.

About the Role
This is a practical, outdoor role with a strong focus on supporting our food forest and market garden operations. You will be involved in a wide range of activities across the property.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Planting, weeding, mulching, and general horticultural activities
  • Assisting with the establishment and maintenance of food forests and vegetable gardens
  • Pruning and vegetation management
  • Operating equipment including tractors, tipper trucks, chippers, and chainsaws
  • Conducting routine equipment checks
  • Assisting with general property improvement projects
  • Maintaining tracks, fences, accessways, and other infrastructure
  • Managing vegetation through mulching, chipping, and hand weeding
  • Always following safe work practices

 
About You
You enjoy physical outdoor work, have a positive attitude, and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty. You’re reliable, proactive, and capable of working independently while contributing to a close-knit team environment.
 
Essential Requirements

  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to help wherever needed
  • Good communication skills

 
Desirable Experience

  • Farming, horticulture, landscaping, or rural work experience
  • Knowledge of plants, growing systems, or organic growing practices
  • Experience operating machinery and equipment
  • Chainsaw and/or tractor experience
  • Interest in regenerative agriculture and sustainable land management
