Project & Operations Engineer
Competitive Salary + Company Vehicle

Are you someone who enjoys figuring out how things work, solving problems and taking ownership from start to finish?

We’re looking for a motivated and ambitious engineer to join a growing South Auckland infrastructure services business delivering stormwater, wastewater, drainage and civil works projects across the Auckland region.

This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety. One day you might be assessing a new opportunity and preparing a quote, the next you’ll be coordinating crews and subcontractors, ordering materials, liaising with clients or troubleshooting a technical issue on site. If you’re someone who enjoys being involved in every stage of a project and likes seeing the direct impact of your work, this could be the opportunity you’ve been looking for.

About the Role

Working closely with an experienced leadership team, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the business while helping deliver a range of civil infrastructure and maintenance projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing project requirements and developing practical solutions.
  • Preparing quotations, estimates and scopes of work.
  • Planning labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
  • Coordinating multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously.
  • Building strong relationships with clients, consultants and suppliers.
  • Managing variations, project costs and commercial outcomes.
  • Ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Supporting projects from initial enquiry through to final handover.

About You

To be successful, you’ll bring:

  • A relevant New Zealand Level 7 engineering qualification.
  • Around 3-7 years’ experience within civil construction, infrastructure, utilities, drainage or a related sector.
  • Strong technical understanding and practical problem-solving ability.
  • Sound numerical skills and commercial awareness.
  • Experience preparing estimates, quotations or scopes of work, or a genuine interest in developing these skills.
  • Good knowledge of New Zealand construction, regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly and professionally.
  • A proactive attitude and the confidence to work independently.

What’s on Offer

  • Competitive salary package plus vehicle.
  • Genuine end-to-end project ownership.
  • Exposure to both operational and commercial aspects of the business.
  • A supportive and down-to-earth team environment.
  • The opportunity to work autonomously and make decisions.
  • Career development and mentoring from experienced industry professionals.

This role would suit someone who enjoys getting involved, taking responsibility and building a career within a growing business where your contribution will genuinely make a difference.

Please note: Applicants must have current unrestricted working rights in New Zealand. We are not in a position to sponsor visas or support immigration applications, therefore overseas-based candidates and those requiring sponsorship will not be considered.
