Compliance Officer

An exciting opportunity exists for a motivated and resilient Compliance Officer to join a specialist compliance team responsible for protecting the community and ensuring adherence to key legislation.

Role specifics:

  • 40 hours per week, standard business hours
  • $40ph + 8% holiday pay
  • Temporary assignment: ASAP until December 2026
  • Albany location

About the role:

The role involves a combination of office‑based work and field visits, requiring a proactive and dependable approach.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conducting site visits and inspections
  • Preparing detailed reports, infringement notices, and compliance notices
  • Managing a varied and busy workload with accuracy
  • Undertake investigations on complex Resource Management and building Act breaches
  • Engaging with members of the public
  • Following established procedures and training requirements

 
About you:

  • Experience in environmental or regulatory compliance (local government experience preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship‑building, and customer service skills
  • Critical thinking abilities and strong prioritisation skills
  • Current full NZ driver licence
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g., environmental science, planning, law, compliance) preferred

This is a safety sensitive position; you will be required to undergo a pre-employment drug test if you are the preferred candidate.
