The role
You’ll lead the development and refinement of Financial Crime models, deliver advanced analysis and insight, and make strategic and practical recommendations to improve Financial Crime Risk outcomes.
This is a senior position that remains close to the technical work. You’ll work with large, complex datasets while partnering across Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk and the wider business. You’ll be equally comfortable getting into the detail and translating complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing refinement of Financial Crime models across BAU and project initiatives
- Apply data analytics, data science, statistical modelling and visualisation to complex Financial Crime challenges
- Assess models, calculators and related analytics to ensure they remain effective and fit for purpose
- Extract, manipulate and analyse large datasets to deliver meaningful insights and recommendations
- Translate regulatory and risk requirements into practical analytical solutions
- Contribute to model assessment, planning and the longer-term direction of analytics tools and platforms
- Build strong relationships across Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk and the wider business
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring, helping strengthen analytics capability across the team
What You’ll Bring
- Senior-level analytics experience with strong technical capability across complex data and sophisticated models
- Experience partnering with Financial Crime, Compliance, Risk and business stakeholders
- Sound knowledge of Financial Crime typologies, customer risk assessment and transaction monitoring
- An understanding of emerging Financial Crime regulatory and industry trends
- Advanced SQL or SAS expertise, or comparable technical capability
- Strong working knowledge of Tableau or Power BI
- The analytical judgement to turn complex data into clear, actionable insights
- Strong communication skills and the ability to make technical concepts accessible to non-technical stakeholders
- Confidence working through ambiguity, solving complex problems and managing competing priorities
- A tertiary qualification in Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, Statistics or a related discipline would be advantageous
