An opportunity has arisen for a junior to intermediate lawyer to step into a fast-paced, delivery-focused assignment providing immediate support within a local government legal team. This is a role where your ability to work independently, apply sound judgement, and manage high-volume statutory workflows will be critical.
This engagement offers the chance to contribute meaningfully in a public sector environment managing time-sensitive LGOIMA and Privacy Act matters. With a primarily remote setup and clear scope, it’s well suited to a capable contractor who thrives on ownership, pace, and delivering robust, defensible outcomes.
The Team:
The in-house Legal Services team provides critical support across the organisation, navigating regulatory, statutory, and governance matters. The team is collaborative, pragmatic, and focused on enabling the organisation to operate effectively while managing legal risk in a transparent and accountable way.
The Role:
This contract role will see you providing hands-on legal support with a strong focus on managing statutory information requests and associated processes. You will take ownership of LGOIMA requests end-to-end, while also supporting Privacy Act matters and Ombudsman-related work.
Working closely with senior solicitors, you will play a key role in maintaining the flow and quality of legal outputs, ensuring requests are handled efficiently, accurately, and in line with legislative obligations. This is a practical role requiring confidence, initiative, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision in a high-volume environment.
